tenel_ka: ([ boys - river ])
Okay, after the mega discussion yesterday, it has been narrowed down to three options for This Damn Outfit. As well as a few sets of MAYBE colors. The sleeves are going to be some sort of snakeskinish fabric, I know that much. I'll just sew them as sleeves and maybe add some embellishments onto the ends.

COSTUME OPTIONS:

1.) A gown. Some sort of simple gown with a wide neckline (so the chain can go on the back of the dress) and a floor-length hem.

PROS: It's a gown. I haven't done gowns for her much and it could maybe turn out really awesome, esp. with the snakeskin sleeves.
CONS: I won't get to wear boots and you know I love me some boots. I would also possibly feel a little goofy walking around in a fancy gown holding a lightsaber lolololol. XD

2.) A really fancy long jacket/top thing and leggings. Basically make the top a jacket with snakeskin sleeves that has closures on the front or back and a lowline in the back for the chain. The jacket would reach the floor and possibly appear to be a sort of dress-thing until the kickassing needs to come in. Then the slits in the jacket appear as well as leggings and boots and whatever other crap is hiding and them suddenly QUEEN MOTHER TO WARRIOR QUEEN NOW YOU WILL GET A KICK IN THE FACE.

PROS: It would give me more freedom to Dathomir up her Hapan Queen Motherness. And I am a sucker for long jackets hurrrrrr. I could carry around my lightsaber freely as well, haha~
CONS: I already kind of have an outfit like that in the Tempest cover and the Warrior Queen outfit. Leggings with boots. Although, it's kickassable and functional.

3.) Mix the two up. [livejournal.com profile] queenmidalah mentioned the ao dai in a comment she made yesterday (THANK YOU~), which if applied to this could possibly turn out really awesome. An ao dai is a traditional Vietnamese costume and is a long fancy robe over a pair of pants. So basically, I make a fancy gown and slit it, with leggings and boots under it. Fancy and functional.

PROS: Queen Mother can kick you in the face and still look fancy doing it.
CONS: Not sure how to work the fancy gown top in with the leggings and make them work well enough. MY SKILLS ARE VERY LIMITED. :T

COLOR OPTIONS:

I've settled on some sets of colors here. I've done purple, gray, silver, green, black two times and brown, copper, green and tan two times as well - along with gray, black, blues and silver. They're worked well so I've thrown some of those in the mix (except the purple/green since I've been working on Tempest TK and I'm sick of it, haha~) ...but these are the sets I'm kind of wavering between for this outfit.

NOTE: The Tenel Ka outfit I was originally planning on making and hopefully still am is one inspired by this fanart - so I will already have a brown/green/tan/whitish-silver in the mix. :D

1.) Dark purple, mauve, black, silver accents/jewelry
2.) Chocolate brown, dark orange, cream, copper or gold accents/jewelry
3.) Tidepool blue, navy blue, sort of a dusty teal, bronze accents/jewelry
4.) SOME OTHER COMBO I HAVEN'T THOUGH OF YET D:

SO ANY OTHER INPUT ANYONE WOULD HAVE AGAIN WOULD HELP ME GREATLY~ <3333333

Also, I dug out all the snakeskin-ish material I have from my fabric collection and took pictures of it. I have been staring at it all and wondering if I want to use any of them for this. Or the other TK I'm making for D*C -- or any TK I decide to remake. Haha~

SNAKESKIN AND SUCH FABRICS GALOOOOREEEE oh my god how did i amass so many o_o )

MY BRAIN IS GOING CRAZY THINKING OF THIS Y U DO DISSSSSS XD *shakes fiiiiiiiiist*
