So see_aphy_be and I are horrible and like to enable each other with fandom-related things. This thing being no exception.

We thought, "Okay, so let's have a roleplaying game where a bunch of characters wake up on a space station. The people who already live on this station can be original characters anyone can play. And maybe a couple of the original characters wanted help dealing with a problem, so somehow they brought these characters here to help them. Their problem is these seven assholes - each one represents a Deadly Sin."

That was all well and good until last night when we were trying to figure out who these bad guys were and how we would fit them into the story and all that crap. I brought up the idea that maybe the Sins, instead of being original characters, are actually fandom characters that fit each sin.

Then she brought up the Seven Virtues.

Then we both had lightbulbs over our heads.

SO HERE'S THE THING: We're gonna make this game and we need original characters/inhabitants of the space station, fandom characters who were brought to stop this and any of the seven sins or seven virtues not filled yet.

We don't care if you've never roleplayed in your life. If you like to write and you know of a character you think would fit well (or maybe you want to try your hand at an original character living on the space station or something), play them! JOIN THE DARK SI-- errrrr.

[ STEP RIGHT UP ] Revelry Junction is technically a large carnival on a beach. No one knows what's around it. The days are far too short and the nights are almost endless. The sun rises into the hazy sky and sets early, plunging the fairgrounds into darkness, into a garishly lit eternal night, pulsing with off-color bulbs and bonfires. The moon is large and full every evening, lending the land the only calm glow around. The air is filled with shouts and laughter, drunken rambles and hushed whispers -- unnerving music seeping from speakers well hidden. People appear here. The arrive through the Hall of Mirrors; exiting their own worlds through mysterious reflective surfaces and arriving in this one, unscathed and usually confused. If they find the right mirror in the funhouse filled with thousands -- they can return, and come and go as they please. But if they don't, or give up looking, they're stuck in Revelry Junction. Stuck there and forced to have some sort of jarring fun.

dfajskdjfksdj I really can't believe it's been that long since this game opened, but it has and I love it to just as much bits now as I did then, back when it opened.

Here's a quick summary. You're a character, you touch a reflective surface. It takes you to the Hall of Mirrors in Revelry Junction, a broke down carnival on the edge of a deserted town. Some people are able to get back to their own worlds, while others can't and are stuck there. Some have opened shops, some have taken jobs -- a currency was just discovered. Little do they all know that something unsettling is about to happen. Were they brought to Revelry Junction for a reason? Maybe the universe just wanted to toy with them perhaps? At least there are fun rides and games to pass the time with. And hey, there's even a beach.

Come on! Bring someone to the carnival and torture them!

I played Fallout 3 for six hours today. I haven't sat on my ass and played a game for that long in one sitting in a long while and you know what? IT FELT NICE. Gave some Teddy Bears to the family up in Pittsburgh, went to Maryland -- to Point Lookout and found some inbred yokels who tried to kill me (I'm not lying, I'm super serial - "Their physical deformities are most likely the result of inbreeding and radiation."), made some moonshine, killed some Mirelurks and did what I think was my favorite quest in the whole game (I still have about ten more to do, and I've done somewhere around 40-45, but this one really took the cake for me). It was during Point Lookout and it was called Walking With Spirits.

Now, I absolutely love games that have crazy-ass symbolism and mess with your mind (the Silent Hill series, Eternal Darkness, etc.) so this quest was right up my alley. It was a giant mindeff. There's so much crazy shit that happens in this quest it's not even funny -- and it calls back to things you've done in the game previously (the nuke in Megaton, the birthday party in Vault 101, the collection of Nuka Cola Quantums). When I came out of the cave and saw the needle stitching up the ground (and earlier the bonesaw), looked to my left and saw the ruined Washington Monument (I was still hours away in Maryland, mind you) and then came upon the skeleton labeled "Mom" on a table (the same table I was born on at the beginning of the game) -- with an effing birthday party hat on to the sounds of a flatline -- I flipped out and professed my <3 for the quest. Then I started finding people in the water I knew and talked to at different points in the game and when I touched them they would vanish and the whole feel of the quest (you are picking up items that have bitchy things written on them XD) was YOU SUCK HARD AND YOU'RE ALL ALONE IN THE WASTELAND. POOR YOU.

AND THEN A PIECE OF MY BRAIN WAS TAKEN OUT. AND THE QUEST WAS OVER. AND I GOT XP FOR IT...?

(this is when I realized the giant bonesaw and the needle was pretty much A PIECE OF MY BRAIN BEING TAKEN OUT OF MY HEAD.)

Aaaaand Nate and I were in Target Friday night in the electronics section looking at video games and on the massive wall of giant televisions a BioShock 2 commercial came on. We both stopped in the middle of our conversation, stared at it in awe, grinned at each other like the super dorks we are and then went right back into our conversation. <3 Heh.

Also, if you're a fan of RPing and see characters you want characters of yours (depending on the game, lol) to interact with -- these games are all open to join. I would absolutely love to see more Silent Hill characters, Myst characters and King characters in the multi-fandom games -- and I would loooove to see more BioShock going-ons in the BioShock game!

LOL, didn't Fate of the Jedi: Outcast come out the other day? Whoops.

So the Curriculum Review -- we're still working on it, it's going well, but apparently I'm going to be at one of our other offices for three days a week so now I have to be focused on that. Also, Valerie's shower went really well (I think) and she liked it (I think) -- YES, zoopiglet? I THINK?

This means I am kind of not as tense as before, which, YAY! But of course there are other things for me to have on my mind like being at the other office and stuff now. BUT I AM BETTER. AND I THINK I'M BACK. I THINK.

ANYWAYS, on king_dressing we have 5 out of 100 of the Walkers (Ray, Art, Peter, Hank & Stebbins!), which really kind of makes me giddy. Especially since see_aphy_be and I are only playing one each (for once, lol).
