I think I understand your sentinments as I share them a little.
...so many author's fingers all over him that he's gone from one end of the spectrum to the other and seems like a completely different character at different points in his life...
Particulary obvious in NJO, esp in the jump from Traitor (which in my opinion is the best SW book written, let alone the best Jacen moment, but then, I'm horrendously baised lol) to Destiny's Way.
TUF was another moment Jacen was at his best.
LOTF Jacen would have ROCKED if he had lived and the authors let him live his potential as a unique Sith Lord.
