tenel_kaYAY RP MEME HAR HAR. No really, here is the RP meme that's been going around teh eljays.
1.) Where and when did you start RPing?
I actually started RPing on good, old AOL. It was about 12 years ago and I would go into the chats like "Vampire Tavern" and "Medieval Tavern" and "Neon Nightclub" -- shit, I would kick it in there and be one of those people rambling and writing about my character and my actions and then there would be those tools who were like *walks in*... even at 13-years-old those people pissed me off. You could at least try, lol.
Also on AOL I RPed lots of Myst with a few folks. And I even dabbled in a little bit of The Matrix.
The best though was the AOL Star Wars RP. The chatroom was always "The Cantina" (and there were other "Cantinas" on other planets). I had a character named Kiri Deverel (the Myst character I had was named Kiri'ana. I used the same screename so I just carried it over, lol) and she got married to this awesome piece of man named Merc Cyan. They were married in the cantina by his BFF Borin Klees and then there was a giant, amazing cantina fight and Kiri, Merc and Borin escaped out the back after hiding behind a table.
Other random characters/people/screennames I remember interacting with -- Star Wars, Myst, Taverns and otherwise: Joaquin Vasaro (he used Hyde from L'arc~en~ciel as his visual inspiration for his character), Kian Una (he was a werewolf), Gren Strife, Sirrah Onofreo, Timehacker, XAgent28, MtWindSong, RoEhRoDan, MystCruz -- oh my gawwwwwd. I remember like... the family dynasties on AOL. Everyone had a certain word in their screenname. I remember the Asylums and the Bloods.
I... I don't know how I remember all of this shit. XD
2.) Do you RP anywhere other than LJ?
Definitely (see: currents - Revelry Junction, fandomNET, New Eden and pasts - Supernova, Vacated [the old version which my character, Trevor March, was on has been taken down], Panorama). I RP more places that aren't on LJ than I do places that are. I RP on boards usually. It's always been easier for me to login on a board really quick and go find a thread and respond to it then it is to login and logout on LJ then get to a community and scroll through a bunch of stuff till I get to where I need to go. It's also easier for me to make a new account on a board when I pick up yet another character, lolololol. XD
Plus, LJ entires always get lost in the shuffle as time goes on. The tagging system LJ implemented has helped a whole lot though, but before that... D: -- if they always had that I might've been on LJ more, but I've gotten so used to boards that those are where I usually am now, hehe.
(And I really liked the Big Brother house-RP Panorama thing. I forgot how much I loved that. XDD)
3.) Do you play in any public games?
What the hell does this mean? All the games I play are public. Is this some special LJ RP term I am not familiar with? O_o
4.) Do you prefer first-person comment spam or prose logging?
I don't know what it is, first person has never seemed to work right with me. Roleplays that flow like a big story have always worked better for me. "I do this, then I do that and I look at you..." that kind of stuff just doesn't do it for me. It takes me out of the story. I know it's good for some games and people and all that jazz, but for me I dig more of the prose logging. Then when you go back and read it all it's like a NOVEL OF AWESOME.

I'm sure it was whatever mesh of characters (all original) I played in the AOL chats. Kiri/Kiri'ana/Eve/etc. If we're looking at official pre-made-existing characters... I played Sailor Neptune in a Sailor Moon RPG on AOL, Lucrecia from Final Fantasy VII in an FF7 RP and then in the very early 2000's I picked up Tenel Ka, followed later by Gadell Vessau (OC), Zekk, Kyp Durron and sometimes Jacen Solo.
6.) Who's your favorite character to play now and why?
I think it depends on how I'm feeling, hehe. I love playing Tenel Ka (even though I'm totally bad at it, lol) because I always magnify the few moments in canon where she cracked a joke/smiled/was snarky. It's no fun to play her blank and AH. AHA. FACT. all the time cause she's not like that all the time (just most of the time, haha). I also love playing Peter McVries. He's a loveable sort of bitch with a wicked mood swing, plus he has just the right amount of backstory canon-wise to be able to play around with.
Also, speaking of bitches Gadell Vessau. Him too. I haven't really had a chance to play him anywhere (there is nowhere to play him). So he has been sitting on the backburner. But he is lots of fun. I WILL FIND A PLACE. D:
7.) What's the longest you've ever consistently played one character?
Tenel Ka, most likely. Still going from the early 00's until today. The way I've played her has a changed a tiny bit (she's a little more lax now), but still probably roughly the same. I should go back and look at old logs. Hehehe.

Hahaha, I agree with her on this. If you're doing this totally in-depth RP and someone comes in like, *WALKS IN* SUP HOW YOU BE? dfjaksjdkfjaskdafjskjfskfjsfkjfd WHAT. I know sometimes it's hard for something to come up with to use to respond, but in a log that's full of actions and crap, there's always stuff to come up with. Like your person doesn't just stand there and talk and not move or fidget or do something.
9.) Do you read RP secrets and the RP anon meme?
LOL, no. I barely have enough time to just RP.
10.) If you've played in public before, do you prefer community based or journal based games?
WTF still with the public thing. XD I'm more board based, but if we're talking just LJ then most likely more community oriented.
11. Would you rather play with someone who's very very IC but a mediocre writer or someone who isn't always IC (but not terrible) and a great writer?
Definitely the latter. I always thought that one of the main things about RPing is taking a character and -- not necessarily "making them your own" (meaning changing them) -- but making them react to whatever's happening in an interesting fashion (and still keep them in character).
Like characters from books, for example -- I never thought it was fun to sit there and read about a character recalling every single thing that's happened to them in a book/book(s) they're from (I've seen this from some King characters in an old RP) -- it's like IF I WANTED TO READ THE BOOK I WOULD READ THE BOOK. WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER DOING RIGHT NOW? An awesome writer can take a character and do this with them. Keep them in character enough but have them evolve and interact and react to different things without continuously calling back to "THAT THING THAT HAPPENED TO ME EIGHT YEARS AGO."
Now, I'm not saying don't ever think back to whatever canon the character is from, no. By all means, they should be thinking about stuff like that once in awhile... but bringing it up every single post? That's like trying too hard to be IC and just gets boring. What is your character doing now? A great writer can do that with style. :D

Haha, not really. Probablysee_aphy_be since we're in all of the same games. Usually followed up by lusa_thul, prix_etoile (who always plays MY HAPAN DAUGHTER LOL) and djcati~ XD
13.) Do you ever stalk any casts, games, or players? Who?
Haha, like I said, it's hard enough for me to set aside time for actual RPing, let alone "stalking other games"~ XD
14.) In your opinion, which part of an app is the most difficult/annoying?
I'm actually not a part of any games that need applications. So... no part! If I had to fill one out... I don't know, probably character background (if it's an established character). It'd be much easier to link to somewhere else with the information. Hehehe.
15.) Are you one of those people who has to customize their character's journal layout and userinfo?
No, most of my characters are on boards. So I customize the avatar and signature and I'm done. If I have an LJ character I usually customize the userinfo and the layout a bit I guess, but nothing too serious since most of the RPing I do on LJ is in communities and not specific character's journals.
16.) What was your first game?
Without considering all the AOL crap as a "set game" (including the Myst, Sailor Moon and FF7 things)... then it was actually probably Supernova. I was looking to join a fun post-NJO RPG (that wouldn't mind a little bit of craziness) and I couldn't find one. So I just started my own. XD
17.) Are there any canons you avoid tagging characters from?
The only multi-fandom game I'm in is Revelry Junction (and fandomNET, if you count that) and I'll jump in any characters thread that's open. I don't care what they're from. XD
18.) Most memorable scene in any thread?
Four words. Kyp Durron's Birthday Party. <33333 Drunk!Kyp late to his own party!, Gadell poking another man's nuts!, slutty Tau siblings!, KAIDIN/ZEKK/ALEMA/TESSICK, LANDO. Ohgod, I loved that game. XD

Hmmm... probably males. Time for a tally. If we just count RJ, Supernova (all SW games, really), Vacated and New Eden -- Definitely gonna have to go with more males. I don't know. I'm not a dude, so it's fun to play one...? I guess? hahahah~
21.) What *won't* you RP?
I have standards somewhere in my RPing, but I've never been at a point where I'm like, "Ew, this has to stop." One day maybe I'll come across it, then I'll know what I won't RP. (Haha, this makes it sound like I've RPed all kinds of nasty shit, which I haven't. At all. Pretty much all of my RPs have been running around on adventures and acting silly/weird/whatever, so there's been no crazy shit.)
22.) Dressing rooms: yes or no?

Does this mean RPed a pairing with myself or with someone else? THIS TERMINOLOGY WHAT. Okay, if we're talking have I RPed a pairing all by myself, then yes. I've RPed both Jacen Solo and Tenel Ka at different times in the past. Also, Scott and Lisey Landon. Now if we're talking a pairing where I am half and another person is the other half... hmm... uh... nothing coming to my mind. I played Tenel Ka toqueenmidalah's Jacen once awhile back (<3). OMG I AM TRYING TO THINK OF MORE. :OOOOO (P.S. If we're going non-canon then can I throw possible Hermione/Ray Garraty in there? And Sam Winchester/Tenel Ka? what)
24.) Favorite place to play: musebox, open posts, public games, private games?
Revelry Junction. And probably the Star Wars Dressing Room. Both mostly for the crack, I think. RJ for the more in-depth crack. XD
25.) Talking RP with someone else who plays your character: fun or awkward?
I don't see what's so awkward about it. Talking to someone else about a character you both play is fun cause then you can both make fun of said character and stuff (unless the other player is a SUPAR SRS RPER and a total tightass :P).lusa_thul and I have both played Zekk and Kyp and we always have fun talking about them. And I know a bunch of us have played different Jacen Solo's and that's always hilarious to talk about. XDDDD
