HUZZAH GETTING STUFF DONE

Alright, overall D*C was pretty good this year. There were many highs and there were a few lows. HERE LET ME SHOW YOU SOME.

HIGHS: Hanging out with people (roomies, sister and brother-in-law, SW PEOPLE <3, etc.), taking goofy pictures, getting tipsy off of one drink, having people recognize Franklin and flip out, seeing Patricia Quinn (Magenta from Rocky Horror) multiple times in the Hilton just chilling, the Aquarium! - AAAAAAND OH GOODNESS I SAW CELLDWELLER IN CONCERT AND HE WAS AMAAAAAAAZINGGGGGGG. I have loved Celldweller since 2003 and he usually just doesn't tour so to hear he was playing at Dragon*Con, both myself and Nate freaked out like little fangirls. THE CONCERT WAS GLORIOUS. <3


LOWS: Three hours in line for a badge? Really? And then missing people like iamsooverrated and zombifiers both of whom I saw for a couple minutes and then made the mistake of saying I'LL CALL/TEXT YOU LATER -- since apparently everyone's phone service sucked and texts/calls either A.) did not go through at all or B.) show up like 12 hours later. BUT MORE ON THAT LATER~ Another low was OH MY GOD I CAN'T MOVE ANYWHERE GET OFF THE WALKWAYYYY. Where did all these people come from, yo? Didn't help that all the football people were milling around watching the "LOL FREAKS" (and also stealing the con rooms at the D*C room rate :|) - that was a giant problem. Too many badgeless people taking up PRIME CON SPACE. XD

Another big suck was not being able to take pictures in the rat tunnels between the hotels, which I fully support so that people don't stop and muck the human traffic up -- but I saw some of the best costumes in the tunnels and couldn't do anything about them! Noooooo!~ D:


SOME HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

1.) see_aphy_be hitting Stan Lee in the face with feathers ON ACCIDENT(?).

2.) Meeting Klayton (Celldweller) and Bret (Blue Stahli). ("Bret got to our badges first and signed them!" - "Bret gets to everything first. I was making out with this girl and I started to pull her shirt down and it said BRET WAS HERE." Klayton says as he points at his neck. XD)

3.) Hearing Valerie continuously say, "Heather, shut up." or "Heather, stop moving." or "Heather, stop acting like a dumbass." I LOVE MY SISTER. <3

4.) Standing in the food court holding an armful of lunch with see_aphy_be waiting for blood_sorbet to get her food so we could go meet the rest of the Strike Team for lunch and having a guy come up to me and go, "May I ask what character you are?" And then him grinning and going "I knew it! Awesome!" and taking a picture when I told him Tenel Ka. I was sweaty (sf hot in the food court D:) and gross and trying to balance two lightsabers and food and a drink too, lol.

OH MAN I KNOW THERE'S MORE -- they will pop-up in the con report, I'm sure.

So remember I said we brought Dragon*Con to lusa_thul a couple weekends ago since she can't make it this year? Which, you know, actually meant LET'S GEEK AROUND IN STAR WARS COSTUMES AND TALK ABOUT THE CRUXSHADOWS? WELL I HAS PHOTOS NOW, hur hur.

For the YJK outfit, I made a whole new bolero and pair of shorts the night before we went over to Emily's (which is why the ones in these pictures look different than the ones in these pictures - and I'm not sure which colors/set I like better -- the greenish brown or the new reddish ones...) so there's a lot of things I'm gonna fix with them. I've already hemmed the shorts a bit shorter and I'll be attaching the bottom and top layers of the boleros together at some point soon.

BUT THERE WAS MUCH FUN TO BE HAD OUT IN THE HEAT. XD

WOOOOOO! Alright, that was exciting. We figure we might take some better shots later in the year when it gets nice again (and I have my YJK outfit fixed and fit to climb trees and roll around in the dirt while wearing, muahaha). We were out in the 90+ degree weather and I got some asinine amount of bug bites (it was 15 or something) but Nate and Emily WERE CLEAR OF ALL BUG NOMS. :(

(P.S. Nate and I went back to that park and explored some more. THERE'S FLIPPING FOUNTAINS DOWN BY THE POND AREA WHICH I DIDN'T EVEN KNOWN EXISTED. I FREAKED OUT WHEN I SAW THEM. WE MUST GO IN THE FALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL~)

Tonight I am watching the So You Think You Can Dance that got TIVOed on Thursday night because I was too busy trying to finish up the magical Queen Mother Tenel Ka dress and jacket (which were so last minute and had a fair amount of ghettoness added to them by way of shortcuts lol -- but actually turned out pretty damn well for the amount of time) and CATCHING UP ON MY FRIENDSLISTTTTTT. I wanted to keep up with it while I was at Balticon but whenever Nate had the computer on we were too busy looking at the website precioussonja showed us -- Ultra Sabers and salivating over them.

(Did I mention I love precioussonja and her darling Mando John? Cause I do, they are awesome and are another reason to look forward to Dragon*Con~ XD)

I will also start a mega con report and resizing pictures. There were some pretty awesome ones like MANDO YELLING AT JAINA TO DO BETTER PUSHUPS and then of course, we all forced Nate into doing this. Cause no Jacen Solo is complete without a crotch thrust, you know?

Really quick though, I was absolutely shocked at one picture that was snapped cause in pictures that have both myself and Nate in them, one of us always LOOKS LIKE A GOOBER. He's making a face, my eyes are closed, I'm being an idiot (I'm really good at this ANYONE WHO HAS CONVENTION PICTURES KNOWS THIS D:) -- when I came across this picture I asked him who these people were because they certainly couldn't have been us -- BUT APPARENTLY THEY ARE.

(I guess it was because it was on the bench in the little super secret area on Hapes and they both just agreed that Jacen will be spending one night and they will both be gettin' sum. This can be the only explanation. D:)


WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE? I'm going to FIX THE REST TONIGHT (Jaina and her janitorial supplies! Would you liek fries with that? MANDO CREEPS ON THE TWINS! Jacen and Jaina hang out in trees! Wait, what?) then there will be a dork party.

(Seriously, I don't think that's us. You'll see in other Balticon pictures that one of us is ALWAYS NOT READY FOR THE PICTURE. And if we're ready then we're PURPOSELY BEING STUPID. I guess that's the way we work lol what it's true. XD)

Okay, I'm currently finishing two short fanfictions. One, Louis and Ellis (Left 4 Dead) out on a Special Infected-infested food hunt together. Two, Jaina visits Tenel Ka (Star Wars) after Caedus' death. And wow, both of these have slightly slashy undertones. WHAT IS THIS?

But then I have a few more ideas for stories that are eating my brain. And I'm not sure which one to work on.

1.) [ SW ] Jaina, babysitting the dear niece of hers, gets a visit from Jacen in the middle of the night. Talking ensues. Also, possible hugs. (post-LotF)
2.) [ SW ] Caedus needs assistance in reaching Tenel Ka to talk to her and makes his one supar sekritt double agent from Hapes help him achieve this. Said agent is a mere male and a social secretary and takes care of Tenel Ka's schedule and his name starts with a G. I think some of you can see where I'm going with this. (mid-LotF)
3.) [ Stephen King ] Scott Landon and Mike Noonan are signing autographs at a literary conference, chatting it up and goofing off, unaware that odd things have happened in both of their home lives. Lisey approaches, Scott gets his special brand of mushy/pushy on and Mike gets nostalgic. (post-Bag of Bones, pre-Lisey's Story)

Plus, I am actually still chugging along on the SW long stories: Absolved (third in a trilogy of lol terror started in 2003, Jacen/Tenel Ka, lots of insanity plus some Jared Leto, Rachel Weisz and Mos Def ...what? And 100% more assassination attempts!) and The First Time (post-LotF, TK/Zekk[/Caedus...?], angry crack).

And there's all the original things swimming around my head, naturally. I currently have six files sitting on my hard drive of long stories I've started but none of them are sparking as much as I want them to. I know there's this idea I'm horribly ready to work on and it just hasn't surfaced in my head yet. COME TO ME, IDEA. O_O

These little gems are things I found on the deep corners of the internet and had to buy them because of my obsession love for this book. I would tuck these in with me and sleep with them if I didn't think I would roll over on them and ruin them. The one on the left is an original 1980 U.K. first edition printing of The Long Walk, while the one on the right is an original 1979 U.S. first edition printing. Also something of note: Garraty, Olson, Harkness and Baker all appear on the U.K. cover. Stebbins and McVries are nowhere to be found (unless McVries is the 6_ way behind Garraty). I say they're making out/killing each other behind the halftrack. And I'd like to think the U.S. cover is a gigantic spoiler and Stebbins is featured on it. XD

Oh my god Frank Darabont, pleeeeease work on/finish The Long Walk sooooooon. Best movie ever.

(And please please please put Stebbins in the actual outfit he is wearing in the book: He was skinny and blond, wearing purple pants and a blue chambray shirt under an old green zip sweater with holes in the elbows.

Today (technically yesterday now, lol) is my sister's birthday (some of you knows her as Valval, Valerie or zoopiglet). And I am commemorating it with lots of awesomeness. The best part of this commemoration is that her and Brian are here right now for Thanksgiving/her birthday so she most likely will not see this until she gets back home. LOL SORRY VALVAL!

People always ask us, "HOW COME YOU AND YOUR SISTER NEVER FIGHT? D: I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW YOU HAVE SUCH A GOOD RELATIONSHIP."

I don't know if it's the 10 year gap, or if there is just something weird going on with the workings of the universe, but we've never fought. Sure, there have been disagreements and stuff ("bitch, go do the dishes/cat box.") -- but never any YOU ARE SUCH A WHORE AND I HATE YOU GTFO OF MY FACE kind of things. Which I will admit, has been pretty nice.

SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY, VALERIE. YOU HAVE MADE ME WHAT I AM TODAY. Seriously, it's all your fault.
