WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2010
I was at work until about 1pm on Wednesday and was lucky to get everything done that I did, since I was buzzing all over the place excited about GOING ON A TRIP YEAAYYYY. When I got home, I was shocked to realize that I had actually pretty much packed all of my stuff in the previous nights and then proceeded to freak out about if I included everything or not.
See, I get crazy around this time of year and make a spreadsheet with all my costumes on it and what I need for each one, along with all the other crap I need to lug with me. Nate and I had so much crap in general (for us, costumes, etc.) that we ended up labeling/numbering Space Bags and writing on the printed out spreadsheet what was in each. Now to preface this, we didn't end up wearing one of our costumes (The Long Walk) and only wore Pushing Daisies to dinner one night - usually it's easy to hop back across the hotels to your room and run up and change but with the GIANT CROWDSSSSS this year it seemed to take a half an hour to get back to your hotel, another ten or so minutes to get an elevator and by then you just didn't want to change anymore and you crashed on your bed to watch some D*C TV (Bob and Carl = <3). :P
BUT TANGENT, ANYWAYS. XD I made sure I had all my crap and then Nate showed up and we packed up the car and we stopped to get ice for the cooler and gas. We also got a car wash. This is the sign on the car wash panel. DO YOU SEE ANYTHING OFF ABOUT IT?

We ended up actually getting on the highway at about 4:30, which is already rush hour for around here and sat in traffic for a bit, but it was fine and it didn't really put a damper on anything since we were all HOLY CRAP DRAGON*CON THIS WEEKEND WATCH OUT THIS GUY IS ABOUT TO CUT YOU OFF BUT SO WHAT CAUSE DRAGON*CON YEEEEEEEEAH!
We drove with no real incident, ended up stopping at a Wal-Mart in North Carolina so Nate could get something to swim in since he forgot his SWIMMIE TRUNKS at home (and we ended up not swimming but that is a giant can of worms that will be opened in a later recap, lololololEWWW WHAT IF IT WAS REALLY A GIANT CAN OF WORMS BETWEEN THOSE TWOOOOOOO) and we ended up buying Lunchables at Wal-Mart for dinner, hahaha~ XD
So we continued to drive and listen to loud music and eat our Lunchables and stopped roughly ten miles away from the SC border in a town called King's Mountain. We specifically looked for a Holiday Inn Express since we stayed at one last year on the way and it was awesome. This one was no different. It was around midnight when we stopped and the lady who checked us in was a doll and I got a good discount for AAA, which was a giant plus!
The room had a microwave and a mini-fridge and we sort of wished we could've taken those with us for D*C, hehe. We watched The Best of I Love the 80's with the AC on meat locker until we passed out. We apparently always have the room on meat locker AC while we're staying in hotels. I guess it's cause the blankets are so plush and warm, hehe.
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2010
We woke up at a resonable hour and got ready (I was wearing my "Team Jacen" shirt that day, hehe) and rushed downstairs for the FREE BREAKFAST! since it ended at 9:30 and it was about 9:15. The lady working the breakfast was super nice and laughed at Nate piling cinnamon buns on his plate. Right before we left he bolted over to get another one and she took a plate and got a piece of plastic wrap for him so he could take two for the road. He was so excited.
After a few more hours of driving, we hit Atlanta!

We were checked in at the hotel and in our room with all of our crap by about 1:30. The bell man we got was awesome and very nice and filled up our cooler and ice bucket and talked about how excited he got when this time of year rolled around because D*C was always so fun to watch and help out with. He also commented on my lightsaber handle and said it looked great and that pretty much made my day cause I've been worried about that thing since day one. XD
I'm gonna get by this part right now: the Hilton was great overall and the renovations are gorgeous. It was the least packed of the main three, check-in went quick and we had our room early, all the staff we interacted with was wonderful. It took awhile to get a baggage cart when we checked in and we had a part in our toilet break, lol (which I will get to later haha XD) but besides those two things, it was a grand old time and I would definitely stay there again (which I will be since I already reserved a room for next year, hehe). The 24 hour marketplace really didn't hurt either. Especially at 2am when I was dying for a giant bottle of water and THEY WERE SHINING AT ME ACROSS THE LOBBY LIKE AN OASIS. <3
Nate and I chilled out in the room and watched some Dragon*Con TV while we waited for Ashley and Sara and we were introduced to Bob and Carl: the Sci-Fi Janitors. They are the most adorable things ever, a great addition to D*C TV and I want to own them - tiny gas masks and all. Heeeee.
Once all four of us were in the room and settled. We geared up for the line. It had been almost a two hour wait last year, so this year we brought some water and a can of Pringles, thinking it might get up to two hours again... but hopefully not.
Little did we know we'd be waiting in line for our badges somewhere a little over three hours. Nate and Sara were able to go up there a little early since the D line was empty at some point, but Ashley and I were stuck - with our B & C names - to wait out the Whole Damn Thing. My back hurt afterwards and I was so damn hungry. Ugggggh. I really hope they do something about that next year. No one should have to wait that long. Pre-registered or buying at the door or whatever -- NOBODYYYYYYY. D:

We went to the food court after we finally got out MAGICAL BADGES and Sara got chinese while the rest of us had Moe's. I was going to get Subway, but just like last year it was closed, haha. XD
Returning to the room, we gushed about it for a little bit since we had one right by the elevators and vending/ice machines as well as one that the outside elevators could see into! Woo! I know we spent some time goofing off in front of the window with the lights out and the lightsabers on while people probably rode by like, "......what?" We're just dorks like that. D:
THEN IT WAS DEATH TROOPERS TIME! Kyle, Nic and Natalie came over and I don't think we got one single serious picture, hahah. We were all tired and goofing off and that was the point where Valerie and Brian showed up and didn't even bother going to our room to knock on the door cause they could hear us over by the hallway windows being giggly and stupid. One day we might get better pictures of these costumes. XD

OH JEEZ DOCTOR HEEEEEEEP MEEEEEEE

Little bros escaping up the stairs! XD

I will smite you with my Chewbacca!

Kale's in time out. :(

LOL I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS LOOK IS

Aaaaaand then Nate put his Jacen and Caedus lightsabers in his jumpsuit. I don't even remember why. I think we were talking about sneaking them into somewhere. Hehehe~
Kyle, Nic and Natalie left to crash after that and Valerie and Brian hung out for a bit then we all passed out a little later after they left with the BEAUTIFUL TONES OF DRAGON*CON TV IN THE BACKGROUND.
I miss D*C TV so much and it hasn't even been a full week since we left yet. :\
Huzzah!
