Hahaha, I find this hilarious: Women in the Video Game industry. "Oh hay! There needs to be more bitches in the industry! We're starting scholarships and shit! And the characters in our games will be strong females but not overly-sexualized like Lara Croft blah blah!"
And then you click on the thing under the image in the article that says MORE PHOTOS and you go to #7 (which is a screenshot of a game that has a bunch of chicks on the developing team) and you tell me if a "strong, female lead" that's "NOT OVERLY-SEXUALIZED" in an "ESPIONAGE-THEMED FIRST PERSON SHOOTER" would WEAR THAT...? What happens when you GET SHOT IN THE STOMACH OR THE CHEST? YES, CHICKS IN THE INDUSTRY ARE CHANGING IT SO MUCH OMG!!!!!11
... puh-lease. I can't roll my eyes back into my head far enough. D:
P.S. ROFL COSPLAY PHOTO ESSAY ON TIME MAGAZINE. :O I dig the Trinity Blood costumes and the AMARANT CORAL(!!!!!!!!!). A++ with the Amarant wig. XD And I love how some of them like aren't in a costume at all. Really.
P.S.S. IF YOU GUYS AREN'T WATCHING REAPER, YOU SHOULD BE. HERE IS A CHEAT SHEET FOR YOU. XD There are repeats on in Supernatural's timeslot now, with new ones starting on the 13th of March! (SOCK & BEN <3 -- poor Ben is always the victim of sliming/maiming/molesting!) I totally want to wear a Work Bench apron to D*C or something. Heeeee~

... what really bothers me, is, if you're trying to appeal to the casual female gamer, fine. Nintendo Wii/DS are already loaded with games that appeal to all genders, because they are good games. Work with that. But if you're going into more "gamer" territory, re: shooters, etc, than this concentration on "female leads", i.e. marketing and gender issues, is going to backfire because if that's the catchphrase, it's not going to go far. Because a gamer who knows her stuff is going to be insulted, not bought, by the "made by girls for girls" campaign. (lolz @ pink cardboard standees) Or at least, I would be.
