BUT THIS SHIT: Jaina confronts Jacen, and he tells her that he is trying to save Tenel Ka and Allana from a nanovirus targeted to kill those of Hapan royal blood. Jaina doesn't believe him, and they get into a lightsaber fight. Jacen's last act before Jaina killed him was of him screaming at Tenel Ka through the Force, warning her that there was danger and to take Allana away.

THIS IS ACTUALLY KIND OF BEAUTIFUL AND ABSOLUTELY FUCKING HEARTBREAKING. <3 Even though he is a bitch (a hot, hot one) through this whole series his absolute last thoughts are still of saving Tenel Ka and Allana. NICE.

And LOL on Jaina killing him when he's trying to do something good for once. And she doesn't try to redeem him at all? If this is true, this rubs me the wrong way. They're twins and she's not even gonna try it even though little Jasa might still be in there somewhere? If I read this book and there is no attempt by Jaina to redeem her twin brother (who has been a good boy longer than he has bad) Jaina will pretty much be dead to me too. Because I don't give a fuck what Valerie/zoopiglet was doing, how batshit crazy she was or who she was killing, but I would definitely try to help her stop her whack-ass antics before I was like, "KAY BYE BYE VALERIE *STAB~!*" -- and she's not even my twin, she's just my sister. (Not that you've killed anyone or gone dark yet, right Valval? D:)

Oh, but there's people sticking up for it cause Jacen was babbling batshit insane and going crazy while they were fighting. SO WHAT? AND LOOK AT THAT. WHAT HE SAID ABOUT THE NANOVIRUS WAS TRUE AND HE WAS TRYING TO SAVE TENEL KA AND ALLANA. WAH WAH WAHHHHHH.

Okay, Tenel Ka better get some damn good scenes in this book cause I won't even want to pick it up besides the fact that she might DO SOMETHING. And the fact that... wait, no, I think that's it. Tenel Ka.

Although, I'm interested to see how they pull off someone who has trained for years and years in the Force and crap -- getting killed by someone who trained with Fett/Mandos for a short period of time and has always focused more on piloting that dueling. How can Luke not kick his face in and hand his ass to him but she can? And what the shit is Luke doing all this time? Picking his nose?

Absolutely NOTHING happened that I was crossing my fingers for to happen here in the UBER-FINALE. Not one single thing. Zekk is tossed to the side and screwed. Jacen doesn't even get an attempt at redemption and is screwed. Allana is going with Han and Leia therefore Tenel Ka has no point anymore except to sit on Hapes and get crotch-rot by osmosis from all her stupid dumbass suitors. There was such opportunity to strip that bastard of the Force and make him a total shell of what he once was -- ESPECIALLY after how much he relied on it ALL THE TIME. I wanted to see him as a bitter hermit in a tiny cell. I wanted to see him suffer. Way to give him a quick death and not pay for everything he did, GFFA! :D

Y'all know I like the angst. But not when one of the main characters who provides it GETS KILLED OFF.

OH OH OH and way to kill off like the only two men Tenel Ka has any sort of feelings for in one book. Papa and Babydaddy. :|


Okay. Maybe I should wait for the book to really get into how I feel, but with the basic story points let out -- part of me doesn't even want to know how they come about because I'm so like WTF IS THIS? D:



So yeah, Caedus/Jacen gets killed. We're left with Jaina as the last remaining Solo kid and she has a vagina, therefore she won't be featured prominently in any upcoming Star Wars works as a main character (unless something drastic happens) and all focus will be shifted to Ben. Zekk is nothing now, presumed dead. Tenel Ka won't be in anything anymore save for a couple mentions here and there when Hapes comes into the conversation since the Solos are taking care of Allana now, which pretty much means I don't see myself caring about anything post-LOTF. I mean, there are some fun possibilities with Allana but she will never hold a candle to her parents. Unless her future boyfriend (since they always have someone) is an exact clone copy of her father. SOUNDS GROSS, but I need another Jacen Solo. (Like he is a drug or something and I need a fix, LOL.)

To me, Star Wars without any version of Jacen Solo is like a plane without snakes, or Grand Theft Auto without the cars to steal, or Silent Hill without the "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!" aspect, or Bioshock without Big Daddies -- shit, it's like the original trilogy without Luke Skywalker. For me, Star Wars Love is basically a big plate of Jacen Solo with a heaping double side of Tenel Ka (and maybe Zekk and Kyp for dessert). I mean, I like it all -- movies, books, games, etc., yeah, but now there's this big, gaping hole of NOTHING in this fandom.

AT LEAST I STILL HAVE FANFICTION.

Anybody else who is as :| as me concerning Jacen -- I will always be here to provide you with fixes. I have a feeling that I will be writings lots of Jacen. Young dorky Jacen, NJO Jacen, Caedus-Jacen, Jacen who was redeemed, Jacen who was stripped of the Force, all kinds of Jacen. So stay tuned.

LotF +'s: More Tenel Ka than normal, Jacen being a bitch like I always dreamed when I was little, Jacen/Tenel Ka dirty interactions/implications (him spying on her, him bitching in his head about never being able to sleep unless he was with her) Allana stuffs -- uh... uhm... oh, the descriptions of stuff on Hapes with suitors and all that jazz. And... the little cameos by Kyp and Kyle Katarn. (I still want to know -- who is Kyp's girlfriend? Oh, and Jacen in the bathtub. That's about it.


Lotf -'s: Legacy of the Mandos (I hate Boba Fett and I pretty much always have, so this was torture for me -- I tried not to BROADCAST MY EWWWW EVERYWHERE, but I can't help it right now D:), Zekk and Jag always having to have scenes with Jaina like they aren't their own characters, Daala's return (really? her?), AND OH YEAH THE UTTER WASTING OF JACEN'S CHARACTER -- as well as the wasting of carrying over a perfectly capable villain into another series. That effer was just getting started. I also think the whole LOOK HOW MANY MAJOR DEATHS WE CAN FIT INTO ONE SERIES is pretty much ass. Sorry Mara and Jacen -- two of the most well known EU characters -- you guys died for SHOCK VALUE! Mara and Jacen = the new Chewie and Anakin.

I have yet to read it, but I'm really hoping it's not as anticlimactic as it sounds. It's not Jacen's death itself that bothers me, it's the fact that they didn't have the grace to have him going out well.

Tbh this book seems like it's going to be one of those where idc about half the characters so I basically skip every other part :|

Yeah, I'm still holding out a tiiiiiiiny bit of hope that the spoilers aren't actually true and that those few people with the book that are all agreeing with each other are all scheming together to fake everyone else out and get a huge laugh out of it all. Yeah ._.;

No, but seriously, what a fucking STUPID way to end a series that had so much going for it D: They could have done AMAZING things with Jacen/Caedus, whether he was redeemed or not. Like people on TFN are saying, it seems like they're trying to stuff a bunch of crap in really fast to set up for the Legacy comics (which I admit are very enjoyable by themselves, but not when you think about the stuff leading up to the events of Legacy, and the fact that there are no classic EU characters in it x_x).

The whole nanovirus thing really bothers me. I was just like "...what? Is that even possible, even in the SW universe? O_o".

Also, Daala as CoS is a huuuuuuuuuge WHAT THE FUCK. Like...how the FUCK does that happen D: And Jag all of a sudden becoming head of the Moffs?! I mean, because of Legacy, it's obvious that he or his descendents become head of the Empire at some point, but this soon and this suddenly?! WUT.

Also very disappointed in the knowledge that TK will no longer be a major character, though I think I enjoy Allana's new name |D;

The biggest thing that pisses me off, though, is obviously Jacen's death. It sounds so fucking anticlimatic, and Jaina not even really trying to redeem him?! THE FUUUUUUUUUUUCK. I don't care if he was going bat-shit towards the end (though I'm not sure how he must have gotten to that point, since he seemed fine in what I read of Revelation [lol I have the book, but have only skimmed it because I've only completely read up to Exile xP], and it seems rather sudden for him to suddenly go completely crazy...though maybe it was spurred on by something, like Jaina trying to talk to him? I dunno, maybe it'll turn out better than it's sounding...). She still should have tried to redeem him or something. And killing him off was just such a fucking CHEAP way to go. There were so many opportunities for amazing storylines with him...

And lastly, THE FETTS I HATE THEM. I really really dislike the Mandalorians in general, so I've always had trouble getting through the chapters focussed on them...slightly happy about that fucking nanovirus lol, cuz I'm sick of reading about them xP

You know which team I play on! But I'm still really sorry that the 'verse just isn't going to be the same for you anymore; I felt the same way with Anakin Solo, back in the day.

That being said-- if you're setting out to take somebody down, no matter how much you love them and what you've been through and what you mean to each other like family, there's a certain point where you need to shut parts of yourself down in order to do what needs doing. I would never fault Jaina for not giving Jacen that one last chance at redemption, because, frankly, I think it's long past that. You don't offer redemption if it means the chance of giving your opponent an advantage; you don't offer redemption if it means humanizing what you cannot anymore. Sometimes we can't allow ourselves that one weakness.

Small personal generosities are not an excuse, nor a sign, nor a deciding factor, of a person's goodness. If anything, it just reinforces the idea of that person's selfishness from the start. I know you're totally TEAM JACEN, and I'm being a bitch-- in the same way I hope Jaina is going to be, actually! haha-- so, um, yeah. Sorry. D:

(Jaina might get haxxed into the Sword of the Jedi-- some sort of mystical Force voodoo crap! In some ways, the Mando training might just bring out her latent warrior mad skills; the equation of Jedi + Mando should only result in something awesome, regardless.)

The only good thing about all this is that Jaina is pretty much safe from anything overly nasty for the next 20 years or so.

Isolder dying could be cool. I mean, he hadn't really done anything useful for awhile (there was plenty of wondering over whether he was still alive, even) and it could work in the plot. I liked him, but not so much that it's NOOOOOO!, and I'm going to keep an open mind.

Jaina - it's not her fault she had to do what she did, but it's somebody's, and probably lazy writers (or lazy people telling the writers what to put in the books) who wanted to take the Jacen-dies route instead of coming up with something a little more creative. Banished and Force-stripped. Jailed with ysalimiri all around. A total madman that even the Force will have nothing to do with. Alive, but with most of his body gone, far more than even Vader, requiring him to have a droid body that won't respond to the Force except in the most minute ways from the flesh that is left (like, head, neck, and a little piece of torso or something... then again I think something like that happened in the Dune prequels)

The Allana situation - I can't complain too much since I wrote something sort of similar back in '06. Of course, without reading the book I don't know for sure and the situations could be completely different.

I'm a little disappointed about Zekk, but if there's no body, then he might still be alive.

I'm halfway hoping that Zekk returns and helps redeem Tahiri and they end up together, because it's ten times better, IMHO, than Ben being Zekk's role in that, and I fear that those are the top two choices. We still have to get from Ben to Kol.

I'm under the impression that Jacen gets redeemed -- not to Jaina, or in the eyes of the Jedi, but to the audience. The warning to TK is really sweet, and if that's his final act, it's a good one. Even though he didn't consciously come back into the Light, I think the good left in him was able to shine through.

But I'm not happy, either. :\ DN and LOTF have seemed extremely pointless. I'm glad about the fan reaction; hopefully there will be some decent fic soon to replace this crap.

I know I had reservations about the Legacy series from the beginning, but honestly in my wildest nightmares I didn’t imagine it ending quite as horribly as this.

Killing Jacen off in that fashion is completely unbelievably ridiculous and truly disturbing if Jaina and everyone else calling for his death in the books are really supposed to represent the moral center of the story.

What the hell happened to the whole point of the original trilogy in the first place? Are we now honestly expected to buy that somehow Anakin Skywalker deserves redemption and compassion after twenty years of mass murder and galactic domination, but after less than three years of sithhood Jacen doesn't merit even a half-assed attempt from his own freaking sister?

And Zekk. My poor, poor, sad little puppy. I sort of want to know the how and why, but then I really don’t because I think it will just piss me off even more. He deserved better and I am ANGRY, even though I knew it would probably end that way for him.

And fuck Han and Leia. When one of your kids turns into a psychopath and the other one spends all her time at age thirty+ emo-ing about what boy she wants to tongue wrestle with this week, not to mention the one who died before he could vote I think your parenting license has just about freaking expired. And why the hell can’t Tenel Ka raise her own damn kid, anyway? Because it would just be too much effort to actually give her scenes and interaction and serious development, but we can’t do without the Solo heir front and center at all times? I call bullshit.

And I know exactly what you about the big hole of nothing. D: Zekk and Jacen were my boys in this fandom. I’ve only loved them since I was eleven and now that they’re gone I just don’t know what to do with canon anymore. Other than write ten billion AUs that somehow find a way around this mess. Well, I guess that's it then! I absolutely LOVED the YJK gang, and now they have been pretty much ripped up, mutilated, and destroyed! I swear, if I can, I will have my revenge on Del Rey, and all those who committed these crimes, or I will die trying!!!

Oh, and in regards to the whole "who ends up with Jaina?" issue, I'm starting to think that the winner will be the one who DOESN'T end up with her. I have supported her and Zekk getting together for a REALLY long time now, but I'm thinking that now she's just become such a whiny little emo bitch that she's barely even worth it. That, and whichever guy gets with her probably has little claim to fame other than being "Mr. Jaina Solo".

And for the record, I'm sure Zekk will return in the future. And if he returns as a badass who still manages to stay firmly on the light side, all the better!

Seriously, the authors are SO not in touch with the whole "feel" of the characters and stories. To them, it's just a job. They need someone who's better for the job. Someone like me, perhaps? Huh? Huh?

Yeah, I was pretty much devastated when I read these spoilers cause it just seems like such a mean thing to do to the fans. NJO was depressing and it feels like they were just trying to see how MUCH MORE DEPRESSING THEY COULD MAKE IT. :(

I don't think that Del Rey will "fix" the story, nor would they hire us. So let's go with Plan B: start our own publishing company, and rewrite the whole EU from the end of YJK onwards! Let's fix up every mistake they made!
