tenel_kaYay here's my jumbled review of ROTS.
Yeah, all that shit about it being as good as the originals? I don't buy it. The movie was good, definitely the best of the PT, don't get me wrong. But the OT has a certain feel -- that none of the PT movies have captured. For some reason I don't find myself caring for as many of the characters in the PT as I do in the OT. O_o
GOOD:
- Mace not going out like a little punkass
- the sexy shots of Coruscant at nighttime, the Mon Calamari Aquatic crazy Final Fantasy 10 ballet thing and the funeral scene --- all really, really pretty <3
- lots of clones <333333333333333
- that crazy Vergere thing that Obi-wan rode - I swear all I could think of was Vergere
- Anakin killing younglings
- Yoda getting his little cocky ass served to him --- OT Yoda >>>>>>>>> PT Yoda
- "This is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause."
- Anakin watching Padme as she brushed her hair = so cute.
- Order 66 was fucking gorgeous -- except for Aayla Secura going out with NO FIGHT. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?
- "Anakin's the father? ... I'm sorry."
- Obi-wan leaving Anakin there like a little crispy bitch
- The fact that when Obi-wan said "I LOVED YOU" to Anakin -- Valerie and Ronnie (sitting on my right and left, respectively) went "OTP!"
- the last shot of Beru and Owen with Luke
- everyone knows I'm a bitch for duality (like omg it's all over stories i write) -- so the contrast between Anakin and Padme on the operating tables was gorgeous <3
BAD:
- where's Mon Mothma?
- I want more wookiees, you bastards
- Padme going out like a little bitch. WTF was this "no will to live" shit? She just had TWO FUCKING CHILDREN. It made her look weak. Padme was never weak to me. It seemed wrong.
- yeah, wtf is with the cutting out of Qui-Gon? Because when Yoda said that shit about Obi-wan being able to see him and then them not elaborating -- yeah it would ruin the flow of the movie... whatever. :P
- Anakin and no gray area. One second he's all "OMG MACE NO JEDI DON'T DO THAT HAR HAR I'M PRETENDING I'M TRICKING EVERYONE BUT I'M TOO RETARDED" -- and the next he's kissing Crusty's ass. There were points where he looking all debatey for a couple seconds -- but he seemed to fall way, way too easily.
- was it me or was the Peacock dress TOTALLY CUT OUT? That was the best one too. Besides the funeral outfit.
- not enough clones O_O
Besides the movie, I had a good time (even though my stomach was still in constant pain) -- I saw the fanforce, Bruce molested Mace, Valerie and I snarked through the whole thing and so on.
Oooo, one of the coolest parts was when I met Priya. <3 She goes to tfn and Ronnie knows her through a girl at work -- we wer all sitting around talking and I asked her if she goes to tfn, she said yes and told me her name. It sounded quite familiar -- and I told her mine and then she said she's read all my fanfiction! O_O! I was squeeing like a little punk after that and then not two seconds later:
"WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO UPDATE?"
SOON I SWEAR OMG. I love Priya. <3333333 Which reminds me I need to go to TFN and PM her.

I think maybe it has something to do with the scale--there's too much of The Galaxy At Stake and not quite enough of the actual personal encounters.

Date: 2005-05-20 01:28 am (UTC)ME. TOO. I knew there was something I forgot to mention! The people I was seeing the movie with haven't read any of the books, though, so I had to keep it to myself!
And the PT and OT are definitely done in completely different styles; there's something just lacking in the prequels. There's so much more witty banter/fun character interaction in the OT, it's not all, "FIGHTING ANGSTING FIGHTING ANGSTING". I saw RotS as very much like a sci-fi miniseries on TV, but all smushed together into a movie.
